Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can anticipate discovering which players will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
