Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
